The hallway thing happened again.
I'm not mad about it either, ngl, this is fire. Quick context for anyone new here, owner's been staying with her sister since she moved out, place is closed up, nobody living there. She asked me to come take a look because she kept hearing noises she couldn't explain, and her labradoodle would not go near the hallway. Wouldn't even look at it. Dog knew something was up. Not naming the address or the family, that's not my call to make, but if you've been following along you know the one.
This is the third night I've set up out there, and all three times whatever this is shows up for right around eleven seconds and then it's just gone, like something's got a timer on it.
Tonight was the clearest one yet. No one showed up on camera, no one walked past me, nothing I can point at and say "there." What I've got instead is something blocked the infrared beam, three footsteps that weren't mine, and two of my rigs completely disagreeing about where "it" was for eleven straight seconds. Eleven. Same as the other two nights. That's not a glitch, that's a window.
Before anyone comes at me in the comments, yes I checked the clock source, that's rig 101, I built the timing circuit myself. Yes I swapped batteries, I'm not an idiot. And yes, I synced the hallway unit and the north unit on my workbench the afternoon before, side by side, same outlet, same everything. They were 0.004 seconds apart when I packed up and left the house.
Also there were prints in the dust this time. Size 6. And like I said, the place has been locked up for weeks. So unless some 10yo broke into a closed house at 1AM to mess with my gear, and also knows how to not trip a beam sensor while doing it, I don't think that's it.
Someone asked if I think it's spirits and honestly, no, that word never sat right with me. I fell down a YouTube hole a while back, some physics grad student breaking down brane cosmology at midnight, and it's been rattling around in my skull ever since. Not saying I believe it. I don't have the math, I barely finished trig. But it's the only idea I've found that doesn't require anybody to have died in that house, which, as far as I can tell from county records, nobody has.
Eleven seconds, three nights running, that's not a ghost being shy. That's more like a door that only stays open so long before it shuts again.
I don't actually know what's on the other side of it. I just know I want to be standing there when it opens next.
And I need some better gear. Maybe an ARK-4 Mark 7. I've read they have some special tech that might work???

044-A — North woods house: three knocks, pressure mismatch, logger time residual. Probably the first useful night I've had in six months.
041 — Mill basement: audio was a loose steam line. EMF spike was the elevator motor. Waste of time.
037 — Cemetery recorder: fox. Absolutely a fox. I owe three people an apology.
031 — Apartment stairwell: unexplained low-frequency pulse, but no repeat on return visit.
